About Rachel Zadok
Rachel Zadok grew up in Johannesburg. She studied Fine Art and worked as a freelance graphic designer and then a waitress while pursuing a career as a writer. In 2005 Rachel was selected from 46,000 hopefuls and a long list of 26, to become a winner of the Richard & Judy / ‘How to Get Published’ competition. Her debut Gem Squash Tokoloshe was shortlisted for the Whitbread First Novel Award and The John Llewellyn Rhys Prize, and long-listed for the IMPAC Award. Her second novel, Sister-Sister is being published by Kwela Books in April 2013.
